2 Daughters, 2 Mothers

Inspired by their mothers' behaviors during their common journey with Alzheimer's, Nancy Goodrich and Jill Mass have created a series of photographs using the alternative process of the Ziatype to convey their mothers' lives and the daughters' sense of loss.

Twenty percent of the proceeds of 2 daughters, 2 Mothers will be donated to the Alzheimer's Association, Connecticut Chapter.

Additionally, we present Nancy Goodrich's

Sacred & Mundane

in the ½Gallery.

Please join us for an Artists' Reception on Saturday, March 6,
from 5 -7 pm.

Artist's Reception 12/4

"I have tried to capture the sense of loneliness
Eugène Atget must have experienced living
in the big city of Paris. His landscapes capture
grand, wide-open spaces that are often empty.
I have tried to photograph with this same
starkness. The images of statues and mannequins
are haunting symbols of people, isolated and
detached from other humans. The window
reflections hint at the presence of humanity,
but rarely is there a human present. I have tried
to create images where there is an ambiguity
between what is real and what is a reflection
of reality."

Please join us for an Artist's Reception on
Friday, December 4, from 6-8pm.

"I love
the elemental world.
I love
the land
the sea
and the sky.
I love
how their
colors
shapes
and textures
interact
and how they change -
with the wind
the light
and the tide.
Each moment
is precious and fleeting.
And so
I use my camera
in an attempt
to hold on to them.
I want to capture
how things were
at a particular moment.
I want to record the
landscape’s
timelessness
and its haunting
sense of the infinite.
Sometimes I’m successful
and many times I fail."

an Artist's Reception
on Saturday,
October 3,
from 5-7pm.

Cyanotype / Vandyke Workshop

Enhanced Membership Options

In an effort to make things less confusing and to offer better value to memberships, we've made a few changes. There are now four membership options - Yearly, Quarterly, Monthly, and Patron.

All memberships, with the exception of the Patron, now include use of the darkrooms, alternative processing equipment, dry mount press and mat cutters, and digital workstation and printers. All this for a periodic membership fee and a session fee of $10. A session is a member's time here on a given day. Spend one hour - that's $10. Spend 8 hours - that's $10 also. Non-members can still make use of the place. They'll be charged hourly at a rate of $14 to $25 per hour. Membership is definitely the better alternative for most people.

Check out all the membership details here.

An Even Newer, Better Deal

After some contemplation, I've decided to lower the unlimited monthly rate again, as well as simplify pricing in general.

For those needing a rental space for only an hour or two here and there, I have left the hourly rates pretty much untouched.

Unlimited monthly rental is now $39 per month plus $10 per session. This applies to the Group Darkroom, Alternative Processing Equipment, Matting/Dry Mounting/Finishing Area, and now the Digital Workstation.

The Private Darkroom is $39 per month plus $20 per session. Find someone to share it with and split the session fee.

The photo studio is not part of the unlimited offer, though members get 2 hours of studio use per month at no charge.

You'll find more details on the PhotoSynthesis website.

Your feedback is welcome.
